With its decision dated 11 May 2017, the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (“EMRA”) has extended the time frame for license-exempt electricity generation companies to benefit from the discounted connection fees, in line with the expectations of the solar power investors and sector associations.
EMRA has amended its previous decision, which envisaged 75% discount on the distribution tariff for license-exempt electricity generation companies obtaining provisional acceptance prior to 31 December 2017. According to the new EMRA decision, license-exempt companies obtaining an official letter prior to 31 December 2017 from the relevant distribution company stating that the project is admissible for provisional acceptance shall benefit from 75% discount on distribution tariff even if the actual provisional acceptance is not completed prior to 31 December 2017.
